"Kornet" missiles were constructed in the late 1990s as a replacement for the previous missiles from the Soviet period, and in the meantime, more modern versions have been developed, such as those procured for the Serbian Army, according to Sputnik.

The delivery of these weapons was announced by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, after the meeting with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in Sochi at the end of November.
