He later met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade, where they discussed cooperation between the two countries, but also our country's membership in the European Union.

- We do not respond to pressure in this way, that someone threatens us and then you have to do something. We heard today that mutual recognition is being sought - the President answered sharply in the presence of the German Chancellor.

- What we kept hearing is a part of the negotiating platform Serbia has with the EU, a comprehensive normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations, but no one has ever spoken about mutual recognition. No one asked for it, except for the US. We heard that today, things are changing at Serbia's expense, it is what I predicted. But if you think you need to threaten us because we want to protect the UN order and reach a compromise solution, you do your job and we will do ours. It is important for me that Chancellor Scholz knows what is happening - the President of Serbia said.

- Do not be angry, however, the Serbs love the territorial integrity of Serbia as much as you love the territorial integrity of Ukraine, sorry!

As a reminder, the President talked with the German Chancellor on Friday, followed by talks between the delegations of the two countries. This is the first visit of the German Chancellor after the visit of Angela Merkel to Belgrade.

The Chancellor was decisive regarding sanctions against Russia, saying that sanctions are a precondition for membership. He also said that the position on the issue of Kosovo is clear, and earlier in the day in Priština he said that mutual recognition is a condition for joining the EU.
