Juan Rubio Fernandez, a priest from the Spanish municipality of Jaén, apologised after burping loudly in the middle of the first communion mass. Moreover, he voluntarily resigned from his position, adding that he was ready to put himself in the hands of professionals. 

Because, as the portal Telecinco wrote, it was said that Rubio had drinking problems, and he personally admitted to his parishioners that he was going through a very difficult period in his life. Rubio burped a few seconds after drinking wine from a chalice, after which he invited the gathered believers to pray. 

- I apologise for the scandal that this fact may have caused, both to the parishioners of the parish I serve, and to the People of God who may have been offended by the images that have been disseminated - Rubio wrote in a statement and expressed hope that he would recover soon.
