Craftsmen from the German state of Saxony-Anhalt asked Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an open letter to lift sanctions against Russia.
- We artisans know from many conversations with our customers that the vast majority of citizens do not want to sacrifice their hard-earned standard of living. This is not our war! - the letter underlines.
- Do you want to be the chancellor who brought Germany to ruin? Do you want to sacrifice your own country? - the artisans asked.
At the same time, they criticised Russia's attack on Ukraine, judging that it is a serious crime and a clear violation of the UN Charter.
- However, we are concerned about the future of our children and grandchildren, the survival of our companies, and our country - they underlined.
Artisans point out that Ukraine is not a very "pure" democratic state, reminding that it is a corrupt state.
- Do you want to sacrifice Germany for that? - they pointed out.
According to them, if prices continue to rise, then "ordinary citizens" will no longer be able to afford life.
